The President of the Republic, Prof. Aníbal Cavaco Silva, visits the United States of America from June 20 to June 23, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Maria Cavaco Silva.
On June 20, the President of the Republic will be the Guest of Honour at a Dinner, to be held in Washington, celebrating the opening of the exhibition “Encompassing the Globe: Portugal and the World in the 16th and 17th centuries”, promoted by the Smithsonian Institution. This is the most important event of this kind, concerning Portugal, organized at any time in the North American capital.
June 21, 22 and 23 will be totally dedicated to contacts with the Portuguese communities in the areas of Boston, New Bedford and Newark.
