Their Royal Highnesses the Princes of Asturias, Don Felipe de Borbón y Grécia, and Dona Letizia Ortiz Rocasolano, will hold an Official Visit to Portugal from 30 May to 1 June, at the invitation of President and Mrs. Cavaco Silva.
The visit’s official programme will begin on 30 May with the laying of a wreath, by the Princes of Asturias, on the tomb of Luís Vaz de Camões, in Jerónimos Monastery.
The princes will then be received, in the Palace of Belém, by President and Mrs. Cavaco Silva, this being followed by a working meeting between the President of the Republic and His Royal Highness the Prince of Asturias.
On the afternoon of 30 May the Princes of Asturias will be received, in the House of Parliament, by the Speaker and representatives of the parliamentary political parties. On that same afternoon, Their Royal Highnesses will hold an encounter with the Spanish community residing in Portugal.
On 31 May, the Princes of Asturias will travel to the city of Braga for a visit to the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory.
This second day will end with a banquet, held in the Palace of Queluz, hosted by the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva, in the honour of the Princes of Asturias.
On the morning of 1 June, the Princes of Asturias will take part in an entrepreneurial meeting promoted by the Portuguese-Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with the presence of entrepreneurs from both countries.
This same morning’s programme will also include an audience of the Princes of Asturias with the Prime Minister, who will later host a luncheon in their honour in the Palace of S. Bento.
On 1 June, President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva will take part, with the Princes of Asturias, in the Award Ceremony of the “Europa Nostra” Prizes, to be held in Jerónimos Monastery.
