President launches debate on birth and demography in the Routes to the Future
The President of the Republic took part in the Conference “To be born in Portugal”, held in the Palace of the Citadel, Cascais, where topics concerning demography and birth rate in Portugal were discussed.
The opening session included addresses delivered by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva and by Prof. João Lobo Antunes who acted as the Conference’s Commissioner, organized by the Presidency of the Republic.
Three panels were held in the morning, headed by the invited speakers: “Fertility and economic development in OECD countries”; “Fertility and European Institutions”; and “Fertility and social context: the case of the Nordic countries”.
At the end of each presentation, the debate was opened to guests and conference participants.
