Pastrana Tapestries in the National Gallery
The President of the Republic visited the exhibition of the Pastrana Tapestries currently on show in the National Gallery of Art in Washington.
The four gigantic Pastrana Tapestries, which had been lost for several centuries, were commissioned by King Dom Afonso V, in the 15th century, to picture the landing, the siege and the assault to Azilla and the fall of Tangiers.
In his first public act after arriving at the federal capital of the United States, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva later visited other exhibition areas of the National Gallery of Art.
