Welcoming reception in Velas
On the third day of his stay in the Azores Autonomous Region, the President of the Republic travelled to the Island of São Jorge where, in Velas County, he visited Uniqueijo – Union of Agricultural Cooperative Societies, producers of the well known local cheese, and later, already in Calheta County, went to the Fajã dos Ubres Belvedere.
Before this, upon arriving at the County Hall, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva met with six children and two teachers of a Velas school who, in April 2010, had travelled with him by road, on their return from Prague to Portugal, when the airspace had been temporarily closed in a large portion of Europe.
