Oak tree planted next to Marialva castle
The President of the Republic adhered to the reforestation campaign launched by the Guarda Civil Government, planting an oak tree next to the walls of the castle of the historic village of Marialva, in the county of Mêda.
In a region that was greatly affected by forest fires last Summer, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva accepted the invitation of the Civil Governor, António José Santinho Pacheco, to become associated to the campaign "Guarda has another F, an F for Forestation", which aims to plant 170,000 trees, one per each inhabitant of the district.
On the occasion, the President encouraged the Marialva Parish Council and its population to achieve the objective proposed by the campaign arch 2011, World Forest Day.
