Military ceremony in Buçaco
The President of the Republic visited Bussaco, where he presided at the military ceremony commemorating the 200th anniversary of the battle which took place in those same hills, during the Peninsular War, at the time of the third French invasion, and in which the Portuguese troops were aided by the allied English army.
At the ceremony, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva delivered an address.
Prior to this, in the Bussaco Palace Hotel, the President received, from the Mayor of Mealhada, a medal and the commemorative books of the bicentenary of the Battle of Bussaco.
