The closure of the biographical exhibition “Presidents of Portugal”, on show at the Temporary Exhibitions Gallery in the Palace of Queluz since November 29 last, will be deferred until next April 25, in order to satisfy the many requests received from the educational community and the large public demand.
The special characteristics of this exhibition, organized by the Museum of the Presidency of the Republic, and its educational relevance, are based on the valuable number of original papers and documents which describe the career of the 18 personalities which, until now, have occupied the position of President of the Republic.
In a chronological sequence, which follows the recent history of Portugal, the visitor will improve his knowledge of the Portuguese presidential institution, viewing documents and personal articles of the former Chiefs of State as well as State gifts.
Highlighted amongst the several components of the exhibition is the Iconographic Gallery of the Presidents of the Republic which shows, through drawings, paintings and sculptures, how these were pictured, since 1910 until current times, by some of the more important Portuguese artists, such as Paula Rego, Columbano, Medina, Leopoldo de Almeida, Júlio Resende, Teixeira Lopes, and many others.
