Inaugural act of a monument to firemen
At the beginning of a visit to several counties in the Douro region, the President of the Republic called first at Armamar, where he presided at the inaugural act of a monument paying tribute to the firemen who were killed in a fire in 1985.
Later, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva went to the City Hall where he delivered a speech during an official ceremony.
Before entering Armamar, the President and Mrs. Cavaco Silva visited, in the Nápoles Estate, the recently completed new wine cellars of the Niepoort wine company.
During a road stoppage in the village of Folgosa, the President was greeted by the local authorities and by the resident population.
