Ceremony in Faro City Hall
The President of the Republic was received in a welcoming ceremony in the Faro City Hall at the beginning of the celebrations of the National Day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities which this year are held in the capital of the Algarve.
After a greetings address by the Mayor, José Macário Correia, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva delivered a speech.
Before this, in Cathedral Square, the President received military honours and attended the raising ceremony of the national standard.
When leaving the City Hall, the President and Mrs. Cavaco Silva were greeted by a performance of the Algarve University Academic Band, Versus Tuna.
