The Presidency of the Republic publishes the following information:
"With respect to news which have been published in the press, stating that the President of the Republic benefits from three pension funds, one of which as a grant for life as former Prime Minister, the following is made clear:
1 - Prof. Doctor Aníbal Cavaco Silva does not benefit from any grant as a result of the exercise of public office;
2 - Prof. Doctor Aníbal Cavaco Silva benefits from two pension funds exclusively as the result of the withholding discounts which, throughout his professional life were paid into the State Pension Fund, as a teacher, and to the Bank of Portugal Pension Fund as a member of the Bank’s staff."
