Arrival in Lisbon
In the beginning of His four day visit to Portugal, Pope Benedict XVI received welcoming greetings from the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva at Lisbon Airport, in a ceremony where a juvenile choir from the Academy of Saint Cecilia took part.
In the presence of the highest figures of the State and of the Catholic Church, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva addressed a speech of greetings and welcome to the Pope, who answered with an address of greetings to the People of Portugal.
