CPLP Day of Portuguese Language and Culture
The President of the Republic attended, in Eça de Queirós Secondary School, in Lisbon, the celebrations of the Day of Portuguese Language and Culture of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), which were held for the first time.
After visiting the exhibition “Peoples, Traditions and Cultures”, showing works carried out by the students, the President viewed the several facilities of that learning establishment, conversing with teachers and students.
The commemorative ceremony of the “CPLP Day of Portuguese Language and Culture”, which was held in the auditorium of that learning establishment, included brief theatrical performances, a musical interval dedicated to the “Hymn to Portuguese Language” and speeches delivered by teachers and students who attend courses of Portuguese as a non maternal language.
President Aníbal Cavaco Silva closed the ceremony delivering an address to the gathering.
