Festive reception in the city
The President of the Republic arrived in Santarém to initiate, in this city, the programme of the commemorations of the National Day of Portugal, of Camões and the Portuguese Communities.
Upon arrival at the capital of the Province of Ribatejo, the President and Mrs. Cavaco Silva were welcomed by the Mayor, by the members of the Organizing Committee of the Commemorations and by a student band of the Santarém Polytechnic Institute.
