At the beginning of a State Visit to Portugal, the President of the Republic welcomed the President of Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos, in the Jerónimos Monastery, where a Military Ceremony took place which included the playing of the Angolan and Portuguese national anthems, a 21 gun salute and a review and march past of the Guard of Honour.
After the Military Ceremony, President José Eduardo dos Santos visited the Chapel of the Jerónimos Monastery, where he laid a wreath of flowers on the tomb of Luís Vaz de Camões.
