In Praça do Município, Lisbon
The President of the Republic took part, in Praça do Município, Lisbon, in the ceremonies commemorating the Day of the Proclamation of the Republic, raised the National Standard in the veranda of the County Hall after which he addressed a speech. This was followed by a march-past of the Armed Forces on parade.
In the noble hall of the County Council building, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva viewed the oil painting by artist José Veloso Salgado allusive to the election of the first Republican municipal council in the Lisbon County Council, on 1 November 1908.
