In the cloisters of Jerónimos
The Kings of Sweden Carl Gustaf and Silvia, commenced a State Visit to Portugal, at the invitation of the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco SIlva. The King was awarded military honours on the grounds fronting the Jerónimos Monastery, laid a wreath on the tomb of Luís de Camões, and was shown round the cloisters of the Monastery.
Later, in the Palace of Belém, the two couples gathered together, prior to the meeting between the President of the Republic and the King of Sweden, after which the two Heads of State held a press conference. The two couples had lunch in the Palace residence.
