President welcomed by the Island’s population
The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva travelled to the Island of Mozambique, and were greeted by local authorities when passing through the city of Nampula.
The programme of the visit to the Island included the presentation of the refurbishment project "Island of Mozambique and Lumbo, Millennium Village".
President Cavaco Silva also had the opportunity to visit the Fortress of São Sebastião and the Museum of Decorative Arts.
During his stay, the President decorated Dr. João Ferreira dos Santos, the largest Portuguese investor in the Island of Mozambique and whose family has been established there for three generations.
