The President of the Republic, together with the remaining Heads of State and of Government taking part in the Santiago Summit, planted a native tree in the new Iberian American Park, located in the Cerro San Cristóbal, in the Chilean capital.
The tree planted by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva is the Chilean native variety "Cryptocaria Alba", known locally as “Peumo”.
After this ceremony which was part of the XVII Iberian American Summit, and which included a group photograph of the leaders attending the meeting, the Heads of State and of Government were guests at a lunch hosted by the Chilean President, Michelle Bachelet, in the Wine Cellar of the Camino Real Restaurant.
