Signature of Declaration

CPLP Summit approved the Luanda Declaration and the Action Plan for the Promotion of the Portuguese Language

The VIII Summit of Heads of State and of Government of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries, which was held in the Angolan capital and in which the President of the Republic took part, approved the Luanda Declaration and adopted the Action Plan for the Promotion, Dissemination and Projection of the Portuguese Language.

The leaders of the eight Portuguese speaking States also decided upon the location of the next summit meeting of the organization, which will be held in 2012.

During the afternoon’s working session, the Heads of State and of Government discussed the theme chosen for the Angolan Presidency – “Solidarity in Diversity in the CPLP Area” – and reappointed Domingos Simões Pereira, from Guinea Bissau, as Executive Secretary of the organization.
