Meeting with Jerry Brown
The President of the Republic received, in San Francisco, the Governor of California, Jerry Brown, included in the programme of his visit to the city to attend the World Ocean Summit and contact North American entrepreneurs and investors as well as members of the Portuguese and Luso-Descendant Community.

The President of the Republic held a breakfast meeting in San Francisco, with members of the Council of the Diaspora and Portuguese managers working in the North American State of California.

At the beginning of the programme of his visit to California, USA, the President of the Republic met with a group of 60 young Portuguese working in the Areas of Technology and Innovation, residing in the region of the San Francisco Bay.
Pedro Reis received by the President
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the Chairman of AICEP (Portuguese Investment Agency), Dr. Pedro Reis.
The President of the Republic returned to Parliament the proposal on a referendum concerning the possibility of co-adoption by same gender spouses or de facto partners, and concerning the possibility of adoption by same gender couples, whether married or de facto partners, approved by Decision no. 6-A/2014, since the Constitutional Court had issued the opinion, following the preventive obligatory check, that it was unconstitutional and illegal.
Audience in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the Governing Officers of the Portuguese Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Similar Activities (AHRESP).
The President of the Republic will be the guest speaker at the closure of the World Ocean Summit 2014, which will be held in San Francisco, USA, between 24 and 26 February instant.
The topic of this summit - World Ocean Summit – will be Sustainability and Governance of the Oceans, and will be attended by Heads of State, members of Governments, officers from United Nations, European Community and NGO agencies, as well as entrepreneurial leaders. President Cavaco Silva will deliver the closing speech, on 26 February.
Presentation of chart
The President of the Republic received the Ministers for Agriculture and the Sea and for Education and Science, who made a presentation of the Chart “Portugal is Sea”, a chart that shows the country’s territorial reality, specifically its maritime dimension, and which includes the proposal for the Expansion of the Continental Platform.

The President of the Republic empowered Chief of the Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Carlos António Corbal Hernandez Jerónimo.
