In order to set the date for the elections to the European Parliament the President of the of the Republic received, in audience, representatives of the following political parties with seats in Parliament: “The Greens” Ecologist Party, Left Wing Block, Portuguese Communist Party, Popular Party (CDS/PP), Socialist Party and Social Democrat Party.
Funeral Mass held in Lisbon Cathedral
The President of the Republic attended the funeral services for the Patriarch Emeritus of Lisbon, Cardinal D. José da Cruz Policarpo, held in the Lisbon Patriarchal Cathedral.
Award ceremony
The President of the Republic awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit to Prof. Doctor Luis de Oliveira Fontoura.
