The President of the Republic addressed a message to King Dom Juan Carlos on the occasion of the National Day of Spain.

Visit to Cartaxo
The President of the Republic visited the County of Cartaxo. President Cavaco Silva delivered an address after being received at a welcoming ceremony held in the County Hall.
The President of the Republic will be in Italy on 12 and 13 October, to voice his opinion on the current moment in Europe and to attend the annual meeting of COTEC Europa.
Visit to Oliveira do Bairro
The President of the Republic visited the County of Oliveira do Bairro. President Cavaco Silva delivered an address after being received at a welcoming ceremony held in the County Hall.
Arrival at Belém
Within the programme of the Celebrations of the 101st Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic, the President of the Republic attended several of the planned shows and concerts, all of which were freely accessible to the public, in the Palace of Belém, the gates of which remained open during the whole day.
Ceremony in Município Square
The President of the Republic took part, in Município Square, Lisbon, in the commemorative ceremonies of the centenary of the establishment of the Republic, having raised the National Standard from the veranda of the City Hall and then delivering a speech. This was followed by a march past of the forces of the National Republican Guard on parade.
Mirko Cvetkovic received in Belém
The President of the Republic received, audience, the Prime Minister of the Serb Republic, Mirko Cvetkovi.
Ceremony in the Estoril Casino
In a ceremony held in the Auditorium Theatre of the Estoril Casino, the President of the Republic awarded the Fernando Namora and Revelation Agustina Bessa-Luís Literary Prizes, both sponsored by the Estoril-Sol company, respectively to authors Luísa Costa Gomes and Paulo Bugalho.
