In the terms of item h) of article No. 133 of the Constitution, the President of the Republic accepted the proposal, put forward by the Prime Minister, to accept the resignation, at his request, of the Minister of State and Finance, Prof. Doctor Vitor Louçã Rabaça Gaspar.

Decoration Ceremony
The President of the Republic decorated the City of Guimarães and four individualities related to Higher Education, in a ceremony held in the Palace of Belém during which he delivered an address.
Meeting in the Palace of Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, Cardinal D. José Policarpo, Emeritus Patriarch of Lisbon, whom he later hosted at luncheon.
Rui Rio received in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the Mayor of Porto, Dr. Rui Rio.
The President of the Republic decorated the City of Guimarães with the grade of Honorary Member of the Order of Sant’Iago da Espada, thus emphasizing the role played by the city as a relevant cultural centre, mainly due to the artistic and scientific events carried out in the last decades.
Sakuji Tanaka received in Belem
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the President of Rotary International, Sakuji Tanaka.
The President of the Republic congratulated the Chancellor of Coimbra University and the Mayor of Coimbra upon the listing of Coimbra University in the roster of World Heritage by UNESCO, at the meeting of the World Heritage Committee now being held in Phnom Penh, in Cambodia.
