Dr. José Manuel Durão Barroso terminates today his mandate as President of the European Commission.
This is the highest international office ever held by a Portuguese national, which comprised great prestige and special relevance for our Country.
For the extraordinarily relevant services rendered to Portugal and to the European Union, the President of the Republic decided, in the terms of article no. 25 and of §4 of article no. 46 of the Law of Portuguese Honorific Orders, to decorate Dr. José Manuel Durão Barroso with the Grand Collar of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator.
The decoration ceremony will take place in the Palace of Belém at 12:00 hours, next Monday, 3 November.
