The President of the Republic sent a congratulatory message to athlete Telma Monteiro, who was acclaimed world judo vice champion in the 57 Kg category, in the championship held in Chelyabinsk, Russia.
Following is the text of the congratulatory message sent by President Cavaco Silva:
“When achieving the silver medal in the Judo World Championship, in the 57 Kg category, judoist Telma Monteiro reasserted once again her professionalism and outstanding sports level, which have marked her path as an athlete.
I thus congratulate Telma Monteiro for the results achieved in this sports event, held in Chelyabinsk, in Russia, and which once again represented an honour for national sports.
I also want to congratulate her extraordinary drive and the dedication with which she has kept on her course as an athlete, confirmed by the ten medals awarded in tem European competitions and the five medals awarded in world championships.
These results are a valuable contribution towards Sports in Portugal and a relevant incentive for young Portuguese sports enthusiasts.
