The President of the Republic will carry out an Official Visit to Korea, at the invitation of Her Excellency the President of the Korean Republic, Park Geun-hye, on 20 and 21 July instant.
The visit will commence on 20 July, with a ceremony in the Seoul National Cemetery, which includes the laying of a wreath on the Memorial Tower, which honours the thousands of South Korean soldiers that lost their lives in the Korean War.
President Cavaco Silva will be received, on 21 July, by the President of the Republic of Korea, this to be followed by a working lunch in the Presidential Palace.
In addition to the visit’s political issues, the programme will also include economic and academic features. The President of the Republic will preside at the opening of an Economic Seminar organized by the Federation of Korean Industries and by the Portuguese Export and Investment Agency (AICEP). He will also attend a breakfast working meeting with representatives of large Korean corporations, and will equally hold a meeting with representatives of Portuguese and Korean academic and scientific institutions.
President Cavaco Silva will also take the opportunity to hold a gathering with the Portuguese Community resident in Korea.
In this visit, the President of the Republic will be accompanied by Mrs. Cavaco Silva, by members of the Government and by an entrepreneurial and academic retinue.
