The Presidency of the Republic publishes the following note subscribed by President Cavaco Silva:

“Upon the conclusion of the Programme for the Celebrations of the National Day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities, I wish to emphasize the heavy adhesion of the Portuguese who, in Guarda, throughout the Country and in the Diaspora, celebrated the national date.

As the public is aware, I became indisposed during the Military Ceremonies, which required my interrupting the address I was delivering, but which I continued after being subject to a medical examination, which confirmed my recovery, in accordance with the immediately disseminated clinical information.

I take this opportunity to address my heartfelt thanks to all those who made known their concern and solidarity.
My best thanks to all.
