The President of the Republic has decided to appoint Lieutenant General Carlos António Corbal Hernandez Jerónimo as Chief of the Army General Staff.
In the terms of item p) of article no. 133 of the Constitution of the Republic, the Government proposed the appointment of Lieutenant General Carlos António Corbal Hernandez Jerónimo to the office of Chief of the Army General Staff, replacing General Artur Neves Pina Monteiro, who has meanwhile been appointed Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff.
After hearing the view of the Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff, and having received Lieutenant General Carlos António Corbal Hernandez Jerónimo today, the President of the Republic will appoint the new Chief of the Army General Staff, whom he will empower on 18 February instant, at 15:30 hours, at a ceremony to be held in the Palace of Belém.
