The President of the Republic addressed a congratulatory message to the President of the European Court of Auditors, Dr. Vítor Caldeira, upon his re-election for a third mandate in this office.

Following is the text of the congratulatory message sent by President Cavaco Silva:

“Upon being advised of Your Excellency’s re-election to the high office of President of the European Court of Auditors, I address you my warmest congratulations, and wish you the utmost success in the exercise of these so relevant duties.

Your Excellency’s re-election to this office significantly expresses the recognition of the excellent work carried out until now, bringing prestige to Portugal and towards its assertion in its role in the European project, built upon bases of solid and respected institutions, due to their independence and to the personal and professional expertise of its members.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, I express my deepest regard for the actions Your Excellency has carried out at the highest level of the European institutions, with the certainty that you will continue during your following mandate, to strengthen the institutional reputation of the European Court of Auditors and to dignify Portugal.
