The President of the Republic addressed a congratulatory message to rider Paulo Gonçalves, who became world champion in motorbike cross-country rallies.
Following is the text of the message from President Cavaco Silva:
“I congratulate rider Paulo Gonçalves, for becoming world champion in motorbike cross-country rallies.
This deed is a prestige for national Sports and an honour for Portugal.
The achievement shows that dedication and perseverance in sports is the best path for success and that Portugal is confirming its potential to exploit other sports events, obtaining excellent results.
