President Cavaco Silva congratulated tennis player João Sousa upon his victory in the ATP tournament held in Kuala Lumpur

The President of the Republic sent a message of congratulations to tennis player João Sousa, winner of the Kuala Lumpur ATP tournament.

Following is the text of the congratulatory message from President Cavaco Silva:

“I very sincerely congratulate you on the victory achieved today in the Kuala Lumpur tournament, as the first Portuguese to conquer a trophy in the ATP World Tour.

The very high sports level you have demonstrated and the extraordinary drive that has characterized your tennis career have contributed towards your having achieved the prominent result that rewards dedication and perseverance in sports.

The victory you have now achieved equally contributes to value Portuguese tennis rankings and to project Portugal’s name in the top world levels in this sport.

Please accept my renewed congratulations and my best wishes for your personal well being and success in sports.
