Visit of State to Portugal of the President of the Panamanian Republic

The President of the Republic of Panama, Ricardo Martinelli, and his Wife, Mrs. Marta Linares de Martinelli, will carry out a State Visit to Portugal on July 30 and 31, at the invitation of President Cavaco Silva.

This will be the first official visit to Portugal of a Panamanian Head of State.

The visit’s official programme will start, on 30 July, with the laying of a wreath, by the President of Panama, on the tomb of Luis Vaz de Camões, in the Jerónimos Monastery. President Ricardo Martinelli and his Wife will then be received, in the Palace of Belém, by the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva, this being followed by a working meeting between the two Heads of State.

In the afternoon of the same day, President Ricardo Martinelli will take part in a meeting with Portuguese entrepreneurs, during which business opportunities will be approached, as well as strategies for the strengthening of the entrepreneurial cooperation between both countries. The first day will be concluded with a dinner in the Palace of the Cidadela, in Cascais, hosted by the President of the Republic.

On 31 July, the President of Panama will hold meetings with the Speaker of the National Parliament and with the Prime Minister.
