President congratulated Architect Gonçalo Ribeiro Telles on award of Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe Prize

The President of the Republic addressed a congratulatory message to Architect Gonçalo Ribeiro Telles upon his being awarded the Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe Prize.

Following is the text of the message from the President of the Republic:

“I want to address you my most sincere congratulations and my delight with the award of the Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe Prize by the International Federation of Landscape Architects.

With its international significance, this prize is the veritable recognition of a practice that, due to its creativity and discernment, decisively contributed towards the assertion and prestige of landscape architecture as a profession of major relevance for the community.

Architect Ribeiro Telles pioneered the definition of an ecological and environmental policy and culture in Portugal. His ideas, his teachings and his work have been essential for the organization of land use and country planning. His art and his genius are visible in a wide number of undertakings, many of which in areas that we are all able to enjoy.

On behalf of the Portuguese and in my own personal name, I address my congratulations to Architect Ribeiro Telles on the award with which he has been distinguished.
