Meeting of the Supreme Council for National Defence

The Supreme Council for National Defence held an extraordinary meeting, presided over by the President of the Republic.

At the end of the meeting, held in the Palace of Belém, the following communiqué was issued:

“The Supreme Council for National Defence held an extraordinary meeting to analyse, as provided for in the Law of National Defence, the Government’s proposal concerning the Strategic Concept of National Defence, which will replace the 2003 Strategic Concept, and which requires being revised following the major changes to the strategic situation and to the international environment that took place in the last decade. Considering the suggestions put forward, the Council decided to give a favourable to the Government’s proposal.”
