The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of the physician, academician and researcher Professor Nuno Grande.

Following is the text of the message sent by President Cavaco Silva:

“Upon being advised of the passing away of Professor Nuno Grande, I address the bereaved Family my deepest condolences.

A notable physician, who distinguished himself early on as a brilliant student and an exceptional teacher, Nuno Grande contributed decisively towards the teaching and research of Portuguese medical science.

He was a revered figure in the city of Porto, and obtained justified projection throughout the country due to his civic involvement in national public life, to which he gave his best: the example of his irreproachable character and the strength of his serene intelligence.

It is our duty to bow to his memory. The memory of a free citizen and of a man with deep convictions, of a physician and scientist with a rare moral and humane dimension.
