GNR visited in Timor
In the last public act of his State Visit to East Timor, the President of the Republic visited the barracks of the National Republican Guard contingent that is comprised in the United Nations police force in the country.
In a ceremony at which the President of the East Timor People’s Republic, Taur Matan Ruak, was also present, and during which President Aníbal Cavaco Silva delivered a speech, the soldiers of the GNR Sub-Group Bravo, who will shortly terminate their mission, were decorated with the Medal of the United Nations.
Upon his departure from Dili, the President of the Republic received military honours and farewell compliments from the Timorese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Zacarias da Costa.
