The Presidency of the Republic divulges the following informative note:
In the terms of the provisions of article No. 133, item n), of the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic, the President of the Republic appointed as a member of the Council of State, Dr. Maria Leonor Couceiro Pizarro Beleza de Mendonça Tavares.
Council of State met in Belém
The President of the Republic chaired the meeting of the Council of State, called for the purpose of analysing the Portuguese presidency of the Council of the European Union during the second half of 2007. When the meeting was over the following notice was made public:
The President of the Republic called a meeting of the Council of State, to be held on June 15, at 18.00 hours, in order to discuss the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union during the second half of 2007.
The President invited the President of the European Commission to brief the Council of State on the challenges which are currently facing the European Union.

President empowered new members of the Council of State
The President of the Republic empowered the new members of the Council of State, in a ceremony held on Thursday, April 6.
In the terms of the provisions of article No. 142 of the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic, the President of the Republic appointed five individualities as members of the Council of State.
