The President of the Republic is carrying out a six day official visit to Madeira Autonomous Region, commencing on April 14, and will travel to all the counties of the archipelago.
In his first visit to Madeira and Porto Santo since he was elected, and during which he will attend the celebrations of the 500 Years of the City of Funchal, President Aníbal Cavaco Silva will have the opportunity to view the whole of the Autonomous Region and to praise the progress and economic development which has been achieved.
In addition to the regional and local political and institutional meetings, the President of the Republic will make contact with Madeira’s economic, social and cultural realities.
During the visit, President Cavaco Silva will greet the people of Madeira and Porto Santo, but will also use the occasion to address the natives of Madeira and their descendants in the Portuguese communities spread around the world.
