President with young prize winners
Completing the programme of the 5th Campaign of the Route to Science, in Coimbra University, the President of the Republic met with a group of young prize winners in the Mathematical Olympics held in the last few years, where Professor Isabel Martins, who had received the Pythagoras Prize from the Portuguese Mathematics Society, was also present.
New Institute
Continuing the programme of the campaign of the Route to Science dedicated to Mathematics, the President of the Republic officially opened, in Coimbra University, the Institute of Nuclear Sciences Applied to Health and visited its facilities, with special reference to the areas of conventional nuclear medicine, PET, Cyclotron and Radio pharmacy.
Institute of Systems and Robotics
At the start of the second day of the 5th Campaign of the Route to Science, dedicated to Mathematics, the President of the Republic visited Coimbra University, where he was shown the projects of the Institute of Communications, its laboratories and those of the Institute of Systems and Robotics.
Mathematical Games
Completing the first stage of the 5th Campaign of the Route to Science, the President of the Republic visited the Science Museum of Lisbon University where he was shown exhibitions of Mathematical tools, games and challenges, and exchanged views with young participants in interactive games and in ongoing workshops.
ISEG receives Presidential visit
Mathematics and their application to Finance were the object of a visit of the President of the Republic to the Higher Institute of Economy and Management (ISEG), in Lisbon, included in the programme of the 5th Campaign of the Route to Science.
Journey in a Carris bus
The President of the Republic travelled by coach from Lisbon to Miraflores, Oeiras, where he visited the Carris facilities, to be shown Mathematical applications to Transport and Logistics.
Lunch at Gulbenkian
Included in the programme of the 5th Campaign of the Route to Science, the President of the Republic met with researchers in the field of Mathematics during a luncheon held in the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, in Lisbon.
Visit to ISA
Within the programme of the 5th Campaign of the Route to Science, the President of the Republic visited the Higher Institute of Agronomy, in Lisbon, where he was shown the use of Mathematics in the management and assessment of impacts of fire risks and on the effects of forest fires.
Visit to the observatories of the Évora Centre of Geophysics
At the start of the 5th Campaign of the Route to Science, dedicated to Mathematics, the President of the Republic visited the Luís António Verney College, of Évora University, where he followed the application of Mathematics in Risk Management.
