President enhances the role of young people in the preservation of heritage and in valuing the local identity

The President of the Republic visited, in Beja, the refurbishment works being carried out in the Church of Our Lady of Pé da Cruz, where he attended a session which broached the role of young people in the preservation of the heritage and in the valuing of local identity..

After an introduction by the head of the city’s Department of Historical and Artistic Heritage of the Diocese, the matter was addressed, amongst others, by a composer, a fashion designer, a cultural programmer, a head of an arts department, a sculptor, an officer responsible for the maintenance of the heritage in rural parishes and by a specialist in tourism.

At the end of the session President Aníbal Cavaco Silva addressed a short speech.
