I was deeply concerned with the news of the brutal earthquake occurred today in Peru and with its tragic consequences in loss of human life, as well as the number of seriously wounded and resulting great material losses.
Upon receiving the sad news of the bereavement of Prof. Doctor Lúcio Craveiro da Silva, I wish to emphasize his important contribution for the development and projection of higher education in the North of Portugal.
On the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the birthday of Miguel Torga, I recapture his memory in this House where he lived for decades, and leave my testimony of esteem for this great literary person and exemplary citizen.
