The President of the Republic sent a message of congratulations to the canoeists medalled in the European Canoe Sprint Championship, held over this week end in Racice, Check Republic.
Following is the text of the congratulatory message from President Cavaco Silva:
“I congratulate canoeists Emanuel Silva, João Ribeiro, Fernando Pimenta and David Fernandes for having won silver medals in the K4 1000 metre trial in the European Canoe Sprint Championship, held in the Check Republic.
I equally congratulate canoeist Fernando Pimenta for having won a bronze medal in the K1 1000 metre trial.
Portuguese canoeing has, once again, achieved brilliant results. And the athletes taking part confirmed the excellent course they have been carrying out in this sport and which has already allowed them to obtain several national and international titles.
They have further contributed towards the valuing of canoeing and for the sport’s development in Portugal, and I thus pay them my compliments, as well as to their technical team. To all of you go my best wishes for your personal and sporting successes.
