The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of Dr. Ana Vicente.
Following is the text of the message from President Cavaco Silva:
“Upon being advised of the passing away of Dr. Ana Vicente, I address the bereaved Family my deepest condolences.
In the Committee for the Equality of Women’s Rights, to which she presided between 1992 and 1996, and in numerous public appearances, to which she added profuse written work, Ana Vicente provided a fundamental contribution to the fight against discrimination and to the assertion of the rights of Portuguese women.
Throughout a life signalled by values of authenticity and human dignity, Ana Vicente stood out as a woman of causes and faith, who never stopped battling for the principles she believed in and the fight for a fairer Portugal.
