President sent condolences to the Family of Miguel Galvão Teles

The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of Doctor Miguel Galvão Teles.

Following is the text of the message from President Cavaco Silva:

“Upon receiving the sad news of the passing away of Doctor Miguel Galvão Teles, I convey to the bereaved Family my deepest condolences.

A brilliant jurist, one of the most notable of his generation, he always stood out by his deep love of freedom and by the integrity of his basic personal characteristics.

Throughout his career, Miguel Galvão Teles distinguished himself as an eminent jurist and lawyer, provided an essential contribution to the Portuguese democracy and later, towards the cause of East Timor in international instances.

He added fine affability to his intellect, both of which will always be patent in the memory of all those who had the privilege of his acquaintance.
