Message of condolences addressed by the President of the Republic on the occasion of the decease of Prof. Doctor Lúcio Craveiro da Silva

Upon receiving the sad news of the bereavement of Prof. Doctor Lúcio Craveiro da Silva, I wish to emphasize his important contribution for the development and projection of higher education in the North of Portugal. As an eminent academic, I especially want to highlight that he was also the first elected Chancellor of Minho University, and his passing away is a great loss to Portuguese culture. His great humanitarianism makes him a revered figure deserving of the admiration and respect of all who enjoyed his relationship.
