The President of the Republic sent a congratulatory message to athletes Emanuel Silva and João Ribeiro on becoming world Kayak champions in the K2 500 metres competition, held in Duisburg, Germany.
Following is the text of the message sent by President Cavaco Silva:
“I wish to congratulate athletes Emanuel Silva and João Ribeiro on having achieved the gold medal in the K2 500 metres competition in the world championships held in Duisburg, Germany.
When becoming world champions they have confirmed the excellent course they have taken in this sport, from being junior competitors, which have allowed their achieving several national and international awards.
The outstanding record of these athletes again contributes towards valuing Portuguese canoeing, and towards Portugal’s projection in this sport; I also want to extend my greetings to their supporting technical team, and once again congratulate both athletes, wishing them best personal wellbeing and sports achievements.
