The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of Ambassador António Pinto da França
Following is the text of the message of condolences from President Cavaco Silva:
“Upon being advised of the passing away of Ambassador António Pinto da França, the President of the Republic addresses the bereaved Family his deepest condolences.
An exceptional diplomat, endowed with a solid humanist culture and great personal charm, Ambassador António Pinto da França, with his experience, honoured Portugal’s name in every posting in which he served the country.
With multiple interests in history, literature and the arts, Ambassador António Pinto da França was appointed Chancellor of the Orders of Civil Merit, an office he fulfilled since 2006, where he distinguished himself by his noteworthy sense of objectivity and, above all, by the dedication and service he rendered to the common weal.
With his passing away, Portugal has lost one of its most noted diplomats, who was exemplary in how he honoured the Country.
