The President of the Republic sent, to the interim President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, a message of condolences upon the passing away of President Hugo Chavez.
Following is the text of the message of condolences from President Cavaco Silva:
“Mister Interim President,
Upon learning the news of the passing away of President Hugo Chavez, Head of State of a country that houses a large Portuguese Community and with which Portugal maintains close relations, I address the People of Venezuela, on behalf of the People of Portugal and in my own personal name, our most sincere condolences, begging that you make known our deepest regrets to the bereaved Family.
