The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of Manuel António Pina.
Following is the text of the message from President Cavaco Silva:
"Upon being advised of the passing away of Manuel António Pina, I wish to present, on behalf of the Portuguese and in my own personal name, my sincere condolences to the bereaved Family.
A journalist and the author of literary works that have often been translated and awarded prizes, specifically the Camões Prize, Manuel António Pina will forever remain in the memory of his readers as one of the great poets of his generation.
In this moment of mourning for Portuguese culture, I render my sincere tribute to the writer and man of letters who has just departed from us.
Aníbal Cavaco Silva"
